March 16, 2012 -- We made lots of projects for St. Patrick's Day this week. Here is my St. Patrick's Day wall decorated with our leprechauns, shamrock wands and pots of gold. We had lots of fun!
Shamrock wands are made from 3 hearts I copied on dark green paper. Glitter was added to the hearts. I made a tracer for the pots of gold. I gave the kids a long yellow construction paper strip from which they cut into squares and then used the TLC method of cutting squares into circles. I made patterns for each part of the leprechaun except the body which is made from a standard sheet of construction paper held longways. The kids used the TLC method of rounding the top corners to make the shoulders. To make sure the hands and arms are the same size when the kids cut, I traced the pattern for the arms and hands on a sheet and then stapled stapled a second piece of construction paper to it so the kids cut the two at the same time. Instead of legs I had the kids use streamers coming off the body.

ReplyDeleteAlmost forgot, the hair was also done the same way as the arms and hands.
